Baldacci computers go to city police program

BANGOR – The Bangor Police Athletic League has five computers for its after-school program, a gift from U.S. Rep. John Baldacci. The computers had been used in Baldacci’s office.

The donation was announced Wednesday at PAL’s Essex Street center.

Baldacci thanked the Bangor Police Department, the city’s parks and recreation department, the Bangor City Council and the PAL Center for their collective work to provide a safe place for young people to gather for recreation and physical fitness.

“It’s a pleasure to provide these computers to the Bangor Police Athletic League,” Baldacci said. “I know they will be put to very good use at the center. The Bangor police, in conjunction with the parks and recreation department, have done a fantastic job putting together an after-school program that provides recreation, exercise, supervision and structure.”

The PAL Center offers a wide range of athletic and social activities. Additionally, annual events such as a field day, a mountain bike race series and a Christmas party, are held at the center. The facility has adult supervision and is open 2:30-6:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
