FORT FAIRFIELD – A Caribou man escaped serious injury Wednesday morning when his car rolled over on Route 1A.
Jeffrey Harvey, 51, was driving south at about 3:35 a.m. on his way to work when his car went off the road and rolled over. Harvey was trapped in the vehicle and had to be extricated by members of the Limestone Fire Department and Rescue Squad using hydraulic rescue equipment.
Harvey was taken by ambulance to Cary Medial Center in Caribou where he was treated for unspecified injuries and then released, a hospital spokesperson said.
His 1993 Chevrolet Lumina was demolished, according to Fort Fairfield police.
Fort Fairfield Police Chief Joseph Bubar said that although the accident occurred in Fort Fairfield, it was close to the line and the initial report placed it in Limestone, which was why Limestone firefighters responded.
Bubar said an exact cause of the accident has not been determined, but he said speed and alcohol have been ruled out as contributing factors.
Sgt. Mark Gahagan of the Fort Fairfield Police Department is investigating the crash.
