There may still be “a light at the end of that dark tunnel” for me after all. Reference is made to the Bangor Daily News article of Nov. 14 concerning the individuals who seemed to have fallen through the cracks, in respect to the 2000 U.S. Census, but will gladly be accounted for.

It seems I also have fallen through those same cracks, because nobody ever contacted me pertaining to the census, no pouch was ever found on my door knob, nobody came knocking at the door for an interview. In April, I started making phone calls in the hopes of eventually getting counted.

Then came October, six months after my first phone call, which was followed by several more calls, being constantly told I would be contacted by some “super.” Finally, I was told by that “super” that, “Sorry, the whole thing is over, too bad – catch you next time.”

Somebody was asleep at the switch because I seem to remember getting counted in the last census, being that I am still living at the same location. I’ve been at this same residence for 23 years.

I’m wondering if there is still hope that I may get counted this time around, even though I live in the other Maine.
