BAILEYVILLE – An investigator from the State Fire Marshal’s Office has been asked to determine the cause of a Tuesday night fire that destroyed a home on the Houlton Road.

Baileyville Police Officer Shawn Newell said the blaze was reported at 11:15 p.m. and the caller reported the home was completely engulfed in flames.

The two-story wooden home was owned by George Small of Baileyville and was not occupied, Newell said.

Firefighters from the Baileyville, Indian Township and Princeton departments responded to the call, but nothing could be done to save the structure, Newell said.

Homes on both sides of the Small house were not threatened, he said.
