THOMASTON – Two Rockland teens were apprehended Wednesday after an apparent attempt to steal money from a hairdresser’s home.
Rockland police Sgt. Kevin Haj said the two boys, 16 and 17, entered the Lasting Impressions hair salon on Thomaston Street. While one of the boys asked the owner, Toby Curtis, for a haircut, the other used the distraction to sneak upstairs into the owner’s residence, where he found and took some cash, Haj said.
Curtis told police she became aware of a disturbance upstairs when her dog started barking. The two boys fled, but Curtis was able to see where they ran from her porch. Haj said the house sits on a hill.
Since the boys fled over the town line into Rockland, Rockland police officers were summoned to apprehend the two. Haj said the two had taken less than $100.
