CAMDEN – A Biddeford lawyer has been named president of the Camden-based chapter of the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Ralph W. Austin, a partner in the law firm Woodman Edmands Danylik and Austin, has been involved with the Maine chapter of the Make-A-Wish Foundation since it was founded in 1992, serving on the board of directors from 1992 until 1999. Since then, he has continued as a legal adviser to the organization.

The Make-A-Wish Foundation grants the wishes of children with life-threatening illnesses.

Through private donations and the efforts of more than 18,000 wish-granting volunteers, the Make-A-Wish Foundation has granted more than 73,000 wishes around the world since its inception in 1980. Based in Camden, the Maine chapter has granted wishes to children in each of Maine’s 16 counties, and recently completed granting its 251st wish since its founding in 1992.

Contact the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Maine at 236-3171 or (800) 491-3171 or visit its Web site at www.wish.org.
