ELLSWORTH – Vandals targeted an Ellsworth Middle School teacher Friday morning, spraying obscenities outside her classroom windows in maroon paint.

Two windows, one of the school’s glass front doors, and the DARE sign on the school’s front lawn were marked, said Ellsworth police Officer Sharon Worcester.

Police found three sets of fresh prints in the snow near the school, but have not identified any suspects.

Police would not identify the teacher.

The nature of the incident suggests that the culprits were pupils, but police have not drawn any conclusions, Worcester said.

The paint is probably removable, she added.
