Uninsured motorists occupy many of Maine’s roads. Recently, my family was involved in a motor vehicle accident with an uninsured motorist. My family then had to come up with the $500 deductible so our insurance would cover damages to our vehicle.
The person who hit us gave us false insurance information and just recently we were informed that the money for repairs to our vehicle, medical expenses and our deductible were deemed uncollectable.
If there are laws against this, then why are people like this still permitted to be on the road? The person who hit us is still driving around in a different vehicle. Is he insured? Timothy MacDonald Bucksport
