WINN – Five passengers in a 1995 Oldsmobile van were injured Sunday evening when their vehicle rolled over just off Route 2 Sunday night.
Deputy Quinton Goodall of the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Department responded to the call at 7:35 p.m. According to Goodall, the van slid off the road due to either rain or ice.
The driver, Moses Karikala, was treated at Penobscot Valley Hospital in Lincoln for cuts on his thumb and released. Also treated at Penobscot Valley Hospital and later released were his wife, Stephanie Karikala, and their 5-year-old son for cuts and abrasions about the head, and their 9-year-old daughter who suffered a broken arm. A 6-year-old daughter was taken to Eastern Maine Medical Center for head injuries, Goodall said.
All passengers were wearing seat belts and the vehicle’s airbags were deployed. Goodall said the van was a total loss.
