SOUTH THOMASTON – A Thomaston man was injured Monday when he lost control of his pickup truck on Route 131 and rolled the vehicle.

Forrest J. Young, 24, was taken to Penobscot Bay Medical Center by his father, according to a report filed by Knox County Sheriff’s Deputy Justin Twitchell. A hospital spokeswoman confirmed Monday that Young was treated after the accident and later released.

According to the deputy’s report, Young was traveling south on Route 131 at 6:41 a.m. when he lost control of his 1993 Ford pickup truck. The vehicle crossed the road and went into a ditch, then traveled back onto the road, where it rolled over and hit some trees off the southbound lane of the roadway. The report indicated that “bald” or worn tires were a contributing factor in the crash.

Damage to the truck was estimated at $7,000. Also damaged in the accident was a post marking the South Thomaston-St. George town line.
