FORT KENT – The University of Maine at Fort Kent is seeking the talents of area performers for its campus community talent review, planned for Friday, Dec. 8, in the Fox Auditorium.

The review has become a tradition in the area, and brings together some of the region’s most gifted performers. The event also provides cash prizes to be given to each of the top performers in the UMFK student and community member competitions.

There will be a separate category for professionals that will feature area performers who make a living as entertainers. A panel of local celebrities will serve as judges. Performers will be placed in the program first come, first served.

People interested in taking part in the talent review may contact Scott Voisine, UMFK director of student services, at 834-7513, no later than 4 p.m. Dec. 4. A rehearsal session for all performers will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Dec. 7, in the Fox Auditorium. Performers will have a 15-minute time slot in which to review technical aspects of their performance.

Available equipment for performers will include a sound system, microphones, cassette and CD players, full or half-stage setups, general lighting and karaoke capability. Due to the extensive setup time required, bands may not participate.

Voisine and Charles Closser, professor of oral communication and performing arts, will serve as masters of ceremonies for the evening.
