FORT KENT – The University of Maine at Fort Kent will host one of two statewide French language contests at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 2, in the Grindle Conference Room at Cyr Hall.

The French Language Foundation/La Foundation de Langue Francaise Euclide Gilbert, a nonprofit organization that was incorporated in New Hampshire, is sponsoring the contest, which is free and open to all United States citizens.

The contest, which is a dictation test, will be held simultaneously throughout all of the New England states and New York. There are two categories, senior (adult) and junior (up to age 19, as of March 31, 2001).

Two winners from each state will win an all-expenses trip to Quebec City to take part in the international finals April 17, 2001. The trip includes two nights at the historic Chateau Frontenac. The person accompanying a minor participant also will receive an all-expenses paid trip.

For more information or to register, contact Donald Eno, UMFK academic outreach coordinator, at 834-7835.
