My condolence to Pam Pelotte of Pittsfield on the loss of her horse by such a bizarre shooting. My question – when she asked that the boys dig a grave for the animals they so needlessly shot, why was her request denied? There is no question as to whom the culprits were; apparently they had been apprehended and turned over to their parents, after shooting the horses and missing the driver of the truck at which they fired.

Now may I say these boys should indeed dig the hole and the parents should supervise. Too many times after committing a crime, youth are dismissed and told not to do it again. Digging the grave might make them think twice if they knew the punishment would fit the crime. I would suggest digging sans gloves.
