PITTSFIELD – Pittsfield planners have two applications for review before them for their Dec. 11 meeting.

David Charrier of Route 2, who along with Myron Green of Connecticut has purchased the former Avian Farms site, is asking for a site plan review to operate a farm and weekly auction at the location.

According to Charrier, the auction would be held at noon each Saturday, and would sell general merchandise and antiques, not livestock. A small kitchen would augment the facility, he said.

Charrier also will appear the following day, Dec. 12, before the Zoning Board of Appeals to ask for a variance of the zoning ordinance that would restrict his auction to less that 15 days a year.

Also on the planner’s agenda is a request by Roy Brooks of Webb Road to operate a junkyard on his property. According to court records, Brooks already has been cited for operating an illegal junkyard on his land and this move apparently is an effort to circumvent cleaning up the property as required by state law.

In other business, the ZBA is being asked to interpret the zoning ordinances to allow Peter A. and Emily Vigue to seek approval from the planning board to construct a communications’ tower on land on Spring Road.

The planning board will meet in the town council chambers of the municipal building at 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 11.

The ZBA will meet at the same location and same time Tuesday, Dec. 12.
