PITTSFIELD – Town Manager D. Dwight Dogherty announced Thursday that he is posting a $250 reward for information leading to the conviction of whoever is stealing road signs around Pittsfield.

In the last several weeks, he said, street identification signs have disappeared from High Street, Webb Road, Library Street, Summer Street, Crawford Road, Phillips Corner Road and Cianchette Avenue.

Besides being necessary for emergency vehicles and travelers, said Dogherty, each sign and its accompanying hardware costs from $40 to $45.

Dogherty said if the signs are returned to the police department, no charges will be levied. “We basically just want our signs back,” he said.
