HAMPDEN – Caitlyn Gunn, a freshman at Hampden Academy, has been picked for an 8-member Maine team that will attend the World Special Olympics in Anchorage, Alaska in March 2001. She will participating in the speed skating event.

Gunn has been involved in the Special Olympics for 11 years. She has competed in both the winter and summer games.

A Caitlyn Gunn Special Olympic Fund has been set up at the Barco Federal Credit Union in Hampden. Donations can be made directly to this fund at the credit union, sent to Judy Gamble, 3 Manning Hill Rd., Hampden, ME 04444, or Frank Coombs, PO Box 409, Hampden, ME 04444. Funds raised over the estimated $4,000 trip costs will be donated to the Maine Special Olympics.
