HOPE – A Rockport man fell asleep while driving on Route 17 Sunday and ended up demolishing his vehicle.
Matthew D. Rogers, 20, was traveling east on Route 17 in a 1995 Nissan Altima when he dozed off and awoke to his vehicle being out of control. The car crossed lanes, went into a ditch, struck a concrete cover, crossed a driveway and grazed a pine tree before stopping.
According to a report filed by Knox County Sheriff’s Deputy Matthew Barnett, Rogers was not injured to the point of needing transportation to the hospital, after the 12:15 a.m. accident.
