ROCKLAND – A Rockland woman was injured Tuesday in a three-vehicle rear-ender on Camden Street.

Nancy Stone, 51, was taken to Penobscot Bay Medical Center with injuries, Deputy Police Chief Wallace Tower said. A hospital spokeswoman said that Stone was treated then released.

Stone was a passenger in Mary Jane Rowland’s 1985 pickup, which was stopped in traffic when it was hit.

Rowland, 45, of Camden was stopped behind a 1992 Mercury station wagon driven by Susan Humphrey, 58, of Brooks. Both vehicles were headed north when a 1998 GMC van driven by Melody Keller, 24, of Sabattus failed to stop and hit the rear of the truck, which was pushed into the station wagon. The accident occurred at 12:25 p.m. near Waldo Avenue.

According to Tower, driver inattention on the part of Keller was the cause of the accident. He did not know whether she was charged.

The van and pickup truck sustained $3,000 in damage each and the station wagon received $1,500 worth of damage. Officer Russell Thompson investigated the crash.
