The name fits

Primo restaurant in Rockland, run by award-winning chef Melissa Kelly and her fiance, Price Kushner, was one of the best new restaurants in the United States in the December issue of Esquire Magazine. Food critic John Mariani writes, “Here, for the first time, Kelly seems to be cooking wholly from her heart, fashioning a robust Italian-American menu heavy with the fresh provender of New England – snap peas plucked from the garden, corn not an hour from the field, lobsters dripping wet from the sea.” If you’d like a meal at Primo, make reservations – very, very early – by calling 596-0770. Visit www.primorestaurant.com for information and the ever-changing menu.

Tasty treat

For foodies with a sense of style, Williams-Sonoma has started a new magazine, Taste, which debuts on newsstands this holiday season. The magazine is big, bold and beautiful, with delicious recipes, food trends. The cover alone, featuring a scoop of pomegranate sorbet studded with the fruit’s seeds, is enough to make any food lover swoon. Inside, there’s more to feast on, including gift-wrapping ideas, a chef’s holiday menu and flower-arranging tips from floral designers. It costs $5 and is available now.
