WINDSOR – A motorist was killed Tuesday night when her car struck a moose on Route 17, authorities said.

Gloria Grant, 55, of Windsor was alone in the eastbound vehicle when it hit the moose in the travel lane and the animal slammed into her windshield, said Cpl. John Bourque of the Kennebec County Sheriff’s Department.

Grant was dead at the scene.
