It seems likely, now, that G.W. Bush will be our next president – thanks to some poorly designed and junky voting devices (machines) in Florida, and elsewhere in the country. Some suggestions for our new president before 2004 are:
Trash the junky voting devices; have some bright high school seniors research voting methods across the country and make recommendations – something like we have here in Maine and elsewhere. Voting should be easy… like “put an x in the right box.” Then run the slips through a fast, accurate electronic counter. Maybe IBM or Bill Gates could be consulted. Hopefully, by 2004 we can have a system that will fairly record/report the will of the people. Robert E. Johnson Bangor
