APPLETON – After avoiding a deer that was crossing West Appleton Road on Tuesday night, a Union woman hit another deer with her car, causing $4,000 in damage to the vehicle.

Julie A. Packard, 47, was driving north at 9:55 p.m. when she turned to avoid a deer. As she began to accelerate again, another deer entered the roadway and was struck by her vehicle, according to a report by Knox County Sheriff’s Lt. Reggie Walker. Packard was not seriously injured, according to the report, but her 1999 GMC sustained damage to the front and driver’s side. It was unclear what happened to the deer.
