FORT KENT – The University of Maine at Fort Kent division of nursing will host an informational presentation on organ transplant donation at 9:30 a.m. today in the campus SportsCenter.

Registered nurse Laura Huckstein, a transplant coordinator from the New England Organ Bank, will speak on the significance of organ donation and discuss the ethical concerns on the subject.

The most important thing to do when considering organ donation is to tell the family, according to Huckstein. The “next of kin” has the responsibility of giving permission for organ donation once death has occurred.

Interested people are encouraged to attend. For information, call Jenny Radsma at 834-7586 or Lisa Theriault at 834-7587.
