BINGHAM – A fire sparked by a wood stove Saturday afternoon damaged a storage shed on McGlaughlin Street.
Fire Chief Dan Trembley said the fire, reported around noon, had burned through one corner of the shed by the time the first of 11 firefighters arrived. They had the fire under control in about 10 minutes.
After investigating, Trembley said it appeared that the heat from a stovepipe that was placed too close to a wall ignited the fire. He was unsure if the owner, Joe McGlaughlin, was inside at the time, but he said no injuries were reported.
“It should be repairable,” Trembley said Saturday afternoon.
