Navy grants contract of $661 million to BIW

BATH – The Navy has awarded a $660.8 million contract to Bath Iron Works to build two Aegis destroyers, U.S. Sen. Olympia Snowe announced Friday. The contract calls for completion of the first destroyer by December 2005 and the second by August 2006.

BATH – The Navy has awarded a $660.8 million contract to Bath Iron Works to build two Aegis destroyers, U.S. Sen. Olympia Snowe announced Friday.

The contract calls for completion of the first destroyer by December 2005 and the second by August 2006.

Construction of the Arleigh Burke class ships is split between BIW and Ingalls Shipbuilding of Pascagoula, Miss., under terms of a multiyear procurement plan.
