BANGOR – All the ballots are in and there’s no need for a recount, Stearns’ Justin Cummings and Winslow’s Chris McCabe are the LTC Players of the Year.

Awards for the high school football players and coaches of the year were presented at the annual LTC Awards Banquet Sunday.

Cummings, who rushed for an LTC-record 5,787 yards in his career, was named the LTC Class C Player of the Year after leading the Stearns Minutemen of Millinocket into the LTC Class C championship game. The senior tailback-linebacker gained 1,976 yards and 35 touchdowns .

McCabe, a tailback and defensive back for Winslow, was named LTC Class B Player of the Year after leading the Black Raiders to the LTC Class B title and the state championship. He racked up 1,320 yards and 20 touchdowns on 174 carries.

LTC Coach of the Year distinction went to Winslow’s Mike Siviski in Class B and Stearns’ Tom Bertrand in Class C.

The conference sportsmanship awards were presented to Hampden Academy in Class B and Dexter in Class C. It was the second time in the last three years and fifth time in the last 10 that Hampden has won.
