UM Extension to offer master gardener course

DOVER-FOXCROFT – The University of Maine Cooperative Extension will offer master gardener classes early in 2001. Master gardeners receive 40 hours of horticulture training in return for 40 hours of volunteer time spent helping others – friends, neighbors or students – to be better gardeners.

Teachers can receive four continuing education units for attending the training. Most of the classes will be held at the Extension office at 59 East Main St. in Dover-Foxcroft starting at the end of February or early March. There also will be one or two Saturdays of regional training.

Donna Lamb, Extension educator, is asking potential participants to let her know the best time and weekday for the training. Possible times are weekdays from 1 to 4 p.m., 3 to 6 p.m. or 6 to 9 p.m. Call Lamb by Friday, Dec. 22, with preferences. Her number is 564-3301 or in Maine 1-800-287-1491.
