Knox County grand jury indicts 34

ROCKLAND – The Knox County Superior Court grand jury rose Thursday, after four days of deliberations, and issued 34 indictments.

The nearly three-dozen indicted people had a total of 79 counts against them.

During the review, the grand jury found one “no-bill,” which is a case presented that results in no indictment. In the December session, there were no secret indictments, which are cases that are kept sealed until a defendant is arrested.

One of the most serious crimes among the indictments is a gross sexual assault, which involved compulsion or force.

Alex Landau, 31, of Rockland was charged with gross sexual assault, as well as aggravated assault and aggravated criminal trespass. The forced sex act was against a woman whose age was not given.

The offense allegedly occurred in Rockland on Thanksgiving Day.

Several other men were indicted for sex-related crimes:

Randy J. Biggar, 48, of Thomaston is accused of three counts of sexual abuse of a minor, involving a female victim who was not 16, but older than 14. He was also indicted on charges of furnishing alcohol to minors and furnishing a place for minors to consume. The alleged offenses took place April 26.

David Rector, 41, of Rockland faces two counts of gross sexual assault against a female victim under age 14. The crimes are alleged to have occurred in May 1993 and September 1995.

Scott Corey, 36, of Union was indicted for gross sexual assault against a female victim under age 14, furnishing a place for minors to consume liquor and furnishing alcohol to minors. The alleged offenses happened in Rockland on July 13, according to court documents.

Another alleged sex offender is Scott Curit, 18, of Camden, indicted on one count of unlawful sexual contact. The alleged offense occurred Aug. 30 and involved a male victim under age 14.

Donald L. Genthner, 42, of Rockland was indicted for theft and misuse of entrusted funds for taking unauthorized control Dec. 22, 1999, over inheritance checks worth more than $10,000. The checks belonged to Donald V. Genthner.

A Warren woman was indicted for taking jewelry worth more than $2,000, but less than $10,000 from “by GEORGE” jewelry store in Rockland on Sept. 30. Shauna L. Landre, 22, was indicted for theft for allegedly stealing the jewelry.

Other indictments ranged from burglaries and thefts to operating under the influence and possession of drugs.

The remaining people who were indicted for a variety of crimes were:

Lazaro Larrondo, 48, of Warren, assault and obstructing the report of a crime; Heather J. Wadsworth, 20, of Warren, burglary, theft and criminal mischief; Amy Grant, 19, of Warren, burglary and theft; George Callahan, 51, of Rockland, aggravated criminal trespass and criminal threatening; April Rawley, 26, of Rockland, assault; Dalton Malmstrom Jr., 29, aggravated criminal trespass, terrorizing, criminal threatening and assault.

Ronald Nickles, 46, of Owls Head, reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon; Anthony M. Joyce, 22, of North Haven, aggravated criminal mischief, two counts of criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon and operating under the influence; and Andrew H. Pratt, 23, of Rockland, two counts of burglary, three counts of theft and burglary of a motor vehicle.

Several people were charged with drug-related offenses, including William Kelly, 43, of Spruce Head, possession of heroin and operating after suspension; Arnold Pease, 39, of Thomaston, acquiring drugs by deception and forgery; Darrell Alley, 33, of North Charleston, S.C., trafficking in marijuana; Thomas Alley, 35, of Rockland, trafficking in marijuana and marijuana cultivation; and Christianne Alley, 22, of Rockland, trafficking in marijuana. Also, David W. Nickles, 38, of Massachusetts, two counts of aggravated trafficking in heroin, one count of marijuana cultivation, possession of a firearm by a felon, and criminal forfeiture of $1,480 cash; Lynda Sebring, 32, no town given, two counts of trafficking in heroin and one count of marijuana cultivation.

Christopher O’Brien, 22, of Thomaston was indicted for burglary of a motor vehicle and theft; Sidney C. Harford, 37, of Rockland, theft and violation of condition of release; Harold E. Willey Jr., 40, of Rockland, possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, loaded firearm in a motor vehicle and violation of condition of release; James D. Hooper, 40, of Thomaston, negotiating a worthless instrument; Jason Randall, 20, of Rockland, theft and forgery; and Christopher L. Brown, 26, of Rockland, burglary and theft.

Michael A. Batty, 25, of Spruce Head, operating after revocation; Paul T. Andrews, 45, of Belfast, operating after revocation, OUI, and displaying suspended/revoked license; Jerry Pearse, 23, of South Hope, operating after revocation and operating an unregistered motor vehicle; Mark W. Johnson, 42, of South Portland, operating after revocation; and Timothy J. Woods, 40, of Rockland, operating after revocation and OUI.
