WASHINGTON – The Army has awarded a contract totaling $19.4 million for weapons production at General Dynamics Armament Systems in Saco.
“This is great news for General Dynamics Armament Systems,” said Sen. Olympia Snowe, a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, “and builds on the company’s well-deserved reputation for high-quality workmanship. This contract demonstrates the Army’s continued high level of confidence in the plant and the superior quality of the weapons produced by the men and women who work there.”
The $19,431,998 contract announced by the Army stipulates production of 6,500 barrel, machine gun, M2 and .50-caliber ammunition in support of the company’s .50-caliber machine gun program.
