FORT KENT – The Fort Kent Recreation and Parks Department will open the Jalbert Park Skating Rink for the season 1-4 p.m. and 6-9 p.m. Thursday, weather permitting.
Public skating will be held 6-9 p.m. Fridays and 1-4 and 6-9 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. During Christmas vacation week, the rink will be open for general skating every day 1-4 p.m. and 6-9 p.m. It will be closed Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.
Open skating fee is 50 cents per person each session. Season passes are available at $10 for individuals and $20 for a family pass. Passes may be purchased at the skating rink during the open skating times scheduled.
Skates can be rented at $1.50 per pair. Skates can be sharpened for $1.50 per pair.
For more information about the skating schedules or if the weather is questionable, call 834-5773. At times, after a severe storm, it takes time to clean the rink and get ready for public use.
Also, when it is warmer out, or it begins to drizzle, the conditions are not only unsafe but could actually ruin the ice.
When the temperatures are lower than 20 below zero, the rink will be closed.
For more information, call the recreation office at 834-3730.
