Now that the hullabaloo of the past presidential election seems to be over and before the next election in four years, maybe all these smart politicians can put their heads together and come up with a less complicated method of voting, avoiding all these so-called “errors” that seem to surface for one reason or other.
Why not make it a “KISS” vote: Keep It Simple Stupid. What really bothers me is to hear such legal statements as: “So many thousands of votes were not qualified to be counted,” for whatever reason. It’s not right.
The people got out, left their homes and went to go vote. Let the popular vote decide, not the Electoral College.
Why not have a simple ballot for the presidential election only, and make it the same for all of the states and voters? Nothing complicated; a simple “X” in a box doesn’t appear to be too confusing or difficult to understand, or to do.
Then comes the counting. Apparently these so-called modern electronic counting devices do not seem to be that accurate, thereby again having to rely on the human eye to make the final decision on the validity of the ballot. So, what’s wrong with counting?
Also, let no final counts or tallies be released until the last voting booth closes, and here I am referring to the different time zones involved in this country.
What has been the total additional cost to the taxpayers to get this final count done? Not all ballots were given a chance to be counted, for various reasons; not to mention all the legal mumbo-jumbo some of us had to put up with in listening to the news releases, only to be more confused.
