ORONO – The Bangor Symphony Orchestra will celebrate Twelfth Night and New Year’s with a performance of the concert canceled in October and rescheduled for 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 6, at the Maine Center for the Arts.
Guest conductor Emmanuel Plasson will return to conduct the BSO in Aaron Copland’s “Quiet City,” with solos by orchestra members Bill Whitener and Laura Green. Maestro Plasson and the orchestra will be joined by clarinetist Igor Begelman to perform Mozart’s Clarinet Concerto.
Begelman will play a unique and seldom-heard clarinet designed by the musician for whom Mozart originally wrote this concerto.
Finally, Plasson and the symphony will perform Mendelssohn’s Symphony No. 3, voted a favorite by BSO audiences.
All tickets reserved for the Oct. 29 date will be honored on Jan. 6. Concert Coaches and David Klocko’s Concert Preview will be held as usual. A reception will follow the concert, courtesy of Friends of the Symphony.
