Often, when legislation is favorable to labor or Democratic constituents, our two Republican senators, Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins, show support for it. But at the same time I know Senate Majority Leader Trent Lott will prevent it from becoming law, therefore saving them from disappointing their conservative Republican supporters.
When the Senate convenes in January, one of Snowe’s and Collins’ first votes will be to elect a Senate majority leader. Is Lott the best person to lead our Senate? If you voted for either of these honorable senators, it is important that you call their tax-funded offices and let their staff know how you feel, and how you wish to be represented in Washington.
