In the story, “Hydro customers likely to see worst rate increase” (BDN, Dec. 18), it was stated that “In August, Bangor Hydro, facing higher costs to purchase the standard offer electricity, asked the PUC for an increase to cover its expenses. Electricity supply rates went up, from about 4.6 cents to about 6.1 cents per kilowatt-hour.”

According to my most recent bill from Bangor Hydro, the distribution charge is 8.45 cents per kilowatt-hour. Most Hydro rate-payers are aware the rates are the highest and rate increases are to be expected (frequently).
