Glaring media errors

My problem seems insignificant in the big picture, but I need to know if other people are frustrated by this trend. I am referring to the proliferation of grammar and spelling mistakes in the media and elsewhere.

A Maine high school sent out graduation information that stated, “These prices will be in affect…” NBC News displayed a large graphic featuring the word “ammendment,” and the “Today” show informed us in another graphic about the role of “protien.” A local grocery store distributed a professionally printed brochure hailing its “knowlegable” staff. And the Bangor Daily News printed an article about a rabbi, citing “the sixth-graders’ project … helping family’s within the congregation…” and Matthew Miller in his column wrote, “… so the Fed chairman could gauge their affects on the economy.”

My husband, who cannot spell “toilet paper” on the grocery list, says I am the only one left in the world who is upset by these errors and that nobody else cares. Is he right?
