WINSLOW – A Vassalboro woman lost her life in a two-car crash during the weekend that police said was apparently caused by excessive speed.
Tonia Taylor, 24, was killed when the car she was driving went out of control Saturday morning on Route 32, crossed the centerline and crashed into an oncoming car.
The driver of the other vehicle, Robert Giroux, 45, of Winslow, was taken to MaineGeneral Medical Center with injuries that were described as serious but not life threatening.
Taylor, who was pronounced dead at the scene, was apparently driving too fast on a stretch of road that was clear of ice and snow, police said.
“People need to obey the speed limit, especially this time of year. As we have ice and snow, it becomes even more important,” Winslow Police Chief Michael Heavener said.
