BREWER – Sara Guppy of Brewer was awarded the Girl Scout Silver Award, the highest award a Cadette Girl Scout can earn. The award was presented during a ceremony at Jeff’s Catering in Brewer earlier in the month.

The Girl Scout Silver Award recognizes excellence in skills development, personal growth and community service. A final requirement of the Girl Scout Silver Award is the completion of a community service project of lasting value. Guppy’s project was writing an informational brochure for the Bangor Immunization Department and decorating two new bulletin boards at the department’s offices.

Guppy, who has been a Girl Scout for 11 years, is a member of Troop 634. During that time she has earned 37 badges and other Girl Scout awards. She has taken training to serve as a Cadette Girl Scout program aide.

Guppy is a sophomore at Brewer High School and is the daughter of Donna and Andy Guppy.
