DEXTER – Mayo Regional Administrative Services Corp. will close the adult psychiatric practice of Dr. Mary Marshall Overstreet on Jan. 5.
Overstreet’s practice shared an office with another physician and was called Dexter Internal Medicine and Psychiatry when MRASC opened the service in 1998. After three years, the practice did not grow as expected, a spokesperson said.
The name of the shared office space will revert to the original name: Dexter Internal Medicine. Dr. Robert Lodato will continue to manage his practice separately and will be unaffected by the change.
“The volume of patients necessary to support [Overstreet’s] full-time practice did not develop, so the practice was not financially viable,” said Dana Fadley, an MRASC practice administrator. “Supplying psychiatric services in a rural area is a very difficult endeavor, and providing this service through a single physician … has proven not to be sustainable over time.”
Fadley said Overstreet’s patients may contact MRASC at 564-0200 for their medical records.
