Libbey, Leavitt key Bangor win

AUGUSTA – Justin Libbey scored five goals and teammate Bobby Leavitt scored the game-winning goal with three minutes to go as Bangor earned a 7-6 high school hockey win over Cony at Kennebec Ice Arena on Tuesday.

John Huhn added a goal for the 3-2 Rams of Bangor while Kevin Cobb assisted on the game-winner. Chris Zielinski made seven saves on 10 shots and Justin Climo had 17 on 20.

Sean Brawn scored three goals while Dan Tuttle, Zach Jaques and Justin Dennett contributed a goal each for 0-6 Cony of Augusta. Casey Tuttle made 25 saves on 32 shots.

Orono 10, Stearns 3

At Orono, Jake Hedstrom led Orono with three goals and two assists while Mike Merritt scored two.

Will Toner scored two and had two assists while Pat Skall added a goal and had two assists. Nat Breece and Eric Gordon each had unassisted goals while Derek Williams had two assists. Nick Dwyer, Ian Ferguson, and Brian Caggiano all had assists.

Casey Hale faced 15 shots and stopped 12 for the Red Riots.

For Stearns, Justin Cummings scored with an assist from Derek Helstrom while Tyler Pelkey scored with the assist going to Matt Michaud. Drew Somers added a goal with assists from Steve Rolfe and Michaud.

Nick Simon stopped 32 of the 42 shots he faced.
