BANGOR – An 18-year-old man has been charged with the robbery last summer of an employee of Wendy’s restaurant, and authorities believe others may have been involved in the nighttime robbery.
Chad Umbro, 18, was arrested Friday and held over the weekend in Penobscot County Jail, appearing in Bangor District Court on Tuesday morning on the robbery charge. He was released on an unsecured bail from court, reported Deputy District Attorney Michael Roberts. A preliminary hearing to determine whether there is probable cause that Umbro committed the robbery is scheduled for sometime in February.
Meanwhile, authorities said two others are suspected of being involved in the Aug. 27 robbery where an employee was confronted while leaving the Bangor Mall Boulevard restaurant with the day’s receipts. The employee told police that she was inside her car when the man prevented her from shutting her door and then demanded the money. She gave it to him and he left, according to police reports.
