ELLSWORTH – Adam Smith hit a free throw with 6.1 seconds left to lift Ellsworth to a 70-69 overtime victory over George Stevens Academy of Blue Hill in schoolboy basketball action Wednesday night.
Derek Awalt and John Morse each paced Ellsworth with 18 points. Joe Richards added 10 and Smith finished with nine.
Ryan Hutchins tossed in a game-high 24 points for George Stevens of Blue Hill. Nick Henry contributed 16.

At Alfond Arena in Orono, Will Toner scored two goals while Jake Hedstrom scored one and assisted on two others to lead the Orono Red Riots past Winthrop/Hall-Dale.
For the 5-0 Riots, third period goals by Brian Caggiano and Hedstrom were the difference. Goalie Paul Pangburn made 18 saves on 21 shots.
For 2-2 Winthrop/Hall-Dale, Bobby Clark scored two goals and assisted on the other. Justin Feeney scored the other goal. Adam St. Onge saved 23 of 28 shots.

At Alfond Arena, Matt Dupuis and Griffin Dill each had two goals and two assists to lead the Old Town Indians to their first victory.
For 1-3 Old Town, Nick St. Louis had a goal and an assist while Nick Buck had two assists. Jeff Turcotte made 29 saves on 32 shots.
