As the Santa’s Helper Fund draws to conclusion, we would like to thank the many contributors who gave selflessly so that someone else might benefit from their gift. No matter how big or small your donation, you have made a difference to someone less fortunate. Your gift may have been transformed into a pair of mittens or a dinner for a hundred people. It does, after all, find its way to someone in need.

Thank you.

As of today, Santa’s Helper has received 777 donations totaling $48,090. Though short of our $50,000 goal, the fact remains that thousands of people have been helped because of the generosity of Bangor Daily News readers.

Recent contributors are as follows:

A gift from the Bangor Board of Realtors’ Christmas Auction in the amount of $2,050; from Shear Delight in Brewer, $50 in memory of Rita Jordan and Carron Crowell; anonymous in East Millinocket, $30 in memory of Grampie Jim Bob; and from Marion Gray of Old Town, $20.

From the families of SunnySide Daycare in Bangor and Holden, $50; anonymous in Howland, $39; the eighth grade at Bangor Christian School, $81.37; and anonymous in Hampden, $30.

Andrew Neff of Brewer, $100 in memory of his grandparents, Elbridge and Anna Ham; anonymously given in memory of Toddy Crockett, $100; Patricia Counihan of Bangor, $25; and an anonymous gift of $5.

Mr. and Mrs. Wesley and Gloria Hart of Holden, $25; anonymously given in memory of Teddy L. Strout, $26; and a $25 donation from the employee dress-down fund at Brogue Financial Services in Bangor. Thank you.

Share with others and help us reach our goal. Send your donation to the Santa’s Helper Fund, PO Box 1329, Bangor, Maine 04402-1329. All contributors will be recognized in the NEWS unless anonymity is requested.
