PORTLAND – The fourth suspect in the burglary of Gateway Auctions in Lebanon is expected to be back in Maine on Tuesday.
Christopher Parady, 23, of Sanford was being held in a Connecticut jail on $100,000 bail. He was arrested over the weekend on a Maine warrant charging him with kidnapping, burglary and theft. Police said the kidnapping charge stems from the Dec. 9 robbery, but did not provide details.
Authorities hope Parady will shed light on the actions of two other suspects who ended up in a fatal gunfight with police in a Chicago train station days after the Lebanon robbery.
Maine State Police are prepared to drive Parady back from Connecticut on Tuesday and book him at the York County Jail, according to Sgt. Matthew Stewart.
Stewart said Parady’s bail will be set when he is booked at the jail. If he can afford his bail, his arraignment will be scheduled within the next few weeks. Otherwise, he will be arraigned as soon as possible, Stewart said.
Police believe Parady helped two men – former Wells residents Andrew Ross and Daniel Wentworth – take $30,000 from the Lebanon auction house.
Another suspect, Michael B. Sales of Broomfield, Colo., turned himself in to Maine State Police last week. Police believe he rented the sport utility vehicle that was found by the auction house. The vehicle contained guns, a grenade launcher, tranquilizer guns, ammunition, night-vision equipment and cash.
Police said that Ross, 25, and Wentworth, 26, were at Chicago’s Union Station to board a train for Tuscon, Ariz., on Dec. 12. They were armed, wearing bulletproof vests, had no identification and were carrying $15,000 in cash, according to police.
