WASHINGTON – The U.S. Department of Transportation has awarded grants totaling $2.88 million for airports in Maine’s 2nd Congressional District, Rep. John Baldacci announced this week. The funding will support necessary projects or equipment purchases at facilities in Bangor, Presque Isle, Houlton, Belfast, and Pittsfield.

WASHINGTON – The U.S. Department of Transportation has awarded grants totaling $2.88 million for airports in Maine’s 2nd Congressional District, Rep. John Baldacci announced this week.

The funding will support necessary projects or equipment purchases at facilities in Bangor, Presque Isle, Houlton, Belfast, and Pittsfield.

. Bangor International Airport will receive $1.5 million to upgrade pavement on the terminal apron serving international aircraft.

. Northern Maine Regional Airport at Presque Isle will receive four grants totaling $680,000; one to acquire easements, another for runway repairs, one for buying snow removal equipment, and another to enhance airport safety.

. Houlton Airport will receive a grant of $300,000 to buy snow removal equipment.

. Belfast Municipal Airport will receive $150,000 to buy snow removal equipment.

. Pittsfield Municipal Airport will receive $150,000 to reconstruct the primary runway and repair runway lights.
