There will be two more Christmas bird counts in the Bangor area. Both are open to the public.
The second count takes place today at Bangor-Bucksport. Interested birders can participate by calling Jerry Smith at 825-4920.
The third bird count is held on New Year’s Day and runs in conjunction with a beginner course on birding. The group will meet at Fields Pond Nature Center in Orrington and travel to Hancock Point, Sorrento, and Schoodic looking for unusual sea ducks and grebes, shrikes, and eagles. Register by calling 989-2591 today by 4 p.m. Cost is $20.
