The Bangor Fire Department shut off the gas line to the Rite Aid pharmacy on Broadway Friday night after a pickup truck crashed into the line, damaging it.

According to police, motorist Todd Wilson, 32, of Old Town and his 13-year-old daughter drove up to the pharmacy’s drive-through window about 8:15 p.m. only to find it closed. Wilson tried to make a U-turn around a barricade to leave the way he had come in, reported Officer Kevin MacLaren, but the truck became stuck in a grassy area covered with snow.

Wilson left his pickup truck in reverse, with his daughter in the passenger seat while he pushed the front end of the truck to free it. Once the truck’s wheels hit the pavement, it took off, in reverse. Wilson told MacLaren that he managed to get back into the moving truck and was trying to get it out of reverse and stop it when the truck hit the side of the building.

No one was injured, MacLaren said. The pharmacy closed early.
