CARIBOU – Jenny Higgins poured in 20 points as the Brewer girls basketball team notched a 56-49 victory over Caribou Saturday in high school basketball action.

Carolyn McAvoy added 14 points for the Witches. Amy Freeman put in eight.

Ashley Soucie led the Vikings with 24 points. Ashley Monahan added 14.

At Sawyer Arena in Bangor, Joe Flenner tallied three goals and Darren Carlisle added two more to propel the Wildcats.

Andy Beaulieu scored a goal and had two assists. Carlisle finished with three assists. Joe Gahagan and Chad Sirois each added a goal for Presque Isle, while Joe Grenier stopped 18 of the 21 shots he faced.

Ryan Taylor scored twice for the Ponies and Corey Beaulieu added a goal. Nick Pressey and Zach Brooks combined to make 21 saves on 29 shots.

Orono 14, Old Town 2

At Alfond Arena in Orono, Jake Hedstrom and Mark Caggiano each knocked in three goals as the Red Riots cruised past the Indians.

Mike Merritt and Eric Gordon racked up two goals apiece. Will Toner, Derek Williams, Joe Smyth and Nick Dwyer each added a goal. Brian Caggiano, Mark’s brother, chipped in with four assists and Hedstrom had three. Casey Hale made eight saves on 10 shots for 6-0 Orono.

Matt Dupuis led 0-5 Old Town with a goal and an assist. Josh Buzzell also scored for the Indians. Jeff Turcotte and Jason Karam combined for 39 saves on 53 shots.

Brunswick 6, Brewer 3

At Dayton Arena in Brunswick, Dana Faureau notched three goals and two assists to lead the Dragons over the Witches.

Ben Patterson, Nick Aschazer and Brian Gill each netted a goal for Brunswick while Paul Lavigne added two assists. Ed Stachowiak stopped 34 of 37 shots.

Brewer’s Robbie Hayes tallied a goal and two assists. Josh Caldwell had a goal and an assist and Jeremiah Richter added a score. Justin Boober made 15 saves on 20 shots.
