BUCKSPORT – Stephanie Sockbeson scored six of her game-high 16 points in the first quarter to spark the John Bapst Crusaders to a 56-38 schoolgirl basketball win over the Bucksport Golden Bucks Tuesday.

Meghan Sekera scored all of her five in the first quarter as the Crusaders raced to an early lead.

Nikki Novak added 13 points for John Bapst Memorial of Bangor.

Brittany Damon paced the Golden Bucks with eight points, and Emily Woodward had seven.

Trav Kurr and Pat Skall also scored for 7-0 Orono. Derek Williams had two assists and Casey Hale stopped 28 of the 30 shots he faced.

Zack Means scored for 1-6 John Bapst off an assist from Chris Todd. John Motta added an unassisted goal and Dominic Dinardo made 25 saves on 29 shots.
