Allen clutch for Penquis

MILO – April Allen made a free throw at the end of regulation to send the game into overtime, hit a field goal to force a second OT, then scored five of the Patriots’ seven points in the second extra period Wednesday night to lead Penquis to a 46-42 victory over Stearns in a battle of Class C schoolgirl basketball unbeatens.

Allen finished with 11 points and a game-high 15 rebounds for the Patriots. Lindsay Hamlin tossed in 13 points.

Ashley Boynton paced Stearns of Millinocket with 11 points.

At Bouchard Arena in Brewer, Josh Buzzell scored two goals and had an assist to power Old Town to victory.

Matt Dupuis and Andy Pease each scored a goal for the Indians. Griffin Dill and Nick Buck each had an assist. Jason Karam made 31 saves on 33 shots.

Sean Tardiff had a goal and an assist for Hampden while Colin Ingram scored a goal. Brendan Morrell added an assist while Julian Kaelin stopped 19 of the 23 shots he faced.
