An item in the Jan. 2 paper reports that investigators were still trying to figure out the meaning behind the lettered tape over the mouth and the clothespin on the nose of an inmate who committed suicide by diving onto rocks from a prison window. The warden speculated that the word “Geronimo” written on the tape might mean the dead prisoner was of Indian descent.
Haven’t the warden and those “buffaloed” investigators ever heard of paratroopers yelling that word when they jump, or of people clamping their noses shut when they take a dive? Even a suicidal convicted murderer can have a sense of humor.
